Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe and a popular tourist destination. Your own vacation apartment on Lake Balaton offers you a vacation paradise right on the water - be it an apartment in Keszthely, Gyenesdiás or some other beautiful place. Surrounded by a breathtaking landscape straight out of a fairy tale, the Balaton region is a natural environment that will quickly make you forget the stresses of everyday life. We are not only selling real estate in Western Hungary but especially real estate on Lake Balaton. What's more, the area around Lake Balaton is known for its excellent wines - so if you're a wine lover, an apartment or house on Lake Balaton is the perfect choice.
How much an apartment costs in Hungary depends on various factors - including, of course, the location and size of the apartment. Apartments in the immediate vicinity of Lake Balaton naturally have a higher price per square meter than those further away. Budapest and the area around Lake Balaton are among the regions with the highest prices. According to Daily News Hungary, the average price per square meter in Tihany on Lake Balaton for 2022 is the equivalent of €4763.
The market for rental apartments is very small in Hungary. Over 90 % of properties are owner-occupied. Renting is more common in larger cities than in the countryside. Compared to large cities in Germany, the monthly rent in Hungary is lower. It depends in which region you rent the apartment. Budapest is one of the most expensive places in terms of rent: Here, the cost of a medium-sized apartment averages around €560 for 2023, according to Daily News Hungary. According to Numbeo, gross rental yields in the larger cities will be between 3% and 4% in 2024.
Theoretically, this option also exists in Hungary. In this case, interested parties can initially rent a property and later buy it at the agreed price. The rental payments can be offset against the purchase price as installments. However, the concept of installment plan is not widespread in Hungary, so such a case is rather rare.
